Much to Don Cherry’s dismay, Ilya Kovalchuk and Pavel Datsyuk decided to hang ten in the KHL for a little while longer.  The talented forwards took part in this weekends KHL All-Star festivities in Chelyabinsk, beginning with todays fan favourite Super Skills competition.  And yes, goalie dancing to “Cotten Eye Joe” is a skill in Russia.

Meanwhile, Kovy and Alexei Morozov faced off during a figure skating routine of sorts in the Captains Contest.  See, aren’t you glad he stuck around now?  K, what about now?  Spaciba!

And here’s their shooting contest feat. Kovy at 5:27

Radulov showed up hungover. Nothing new here.

Pavel Datsyuk felt the wind beneath his wings. Don’t even pretend like you’re going to hold a grudge against him for staying.

What a smile, what a guy.  Now check him out scoring goals like it’s his job.  Oh, nvm, it is.

Here’s a look at their “longest shot” portion of the skills comp.  It gets old real quick.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Where you at, Chelyabinsk?

So there you have it, day one of the KHL All-Star weekend is complete.  And the earth is still spinning in space, so it’s all going to be ok and the guys will come back to the NHL when they’re done goofing around for the fans that love and miss them.

Oh and PS, KHL fans are onto you, Don
