Do you have a Calgary Flames fan in your life? Because if so, now would be a good time to be nice to them. Hug them. Hold them close. Lie to them and tell them it’s all going to be ok. Point them in the direction of other fan bases who once lost their saviour. Maybe even comfort them with talk of a rebuild? No, scratch that, Jay Feaster is still employed.
Early this morning the hockey world (well, those who were up anyway) got word that Jarome Iginla was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins and not the big, bad Bruins as earlier speculated. (LOL BRUINS FANS, BTW)
Imagine Iggy as a Bruin. No, right? Well he couldn’t either because he told Feaster that he wanted to go to Pittsburgh and that was that.
From the press conference with Feaster himself:
“We had multiple teams we were dealing with, had multiple offers, and again, at the end of the day, it’s a process of working with the player as well, and certainly the player has a role to play when the player has a trade no move, and in this instance the deal that we consummated, this is where the player was prepared to waive for.”
So basically, Iggy wasn’t really going anywhere other than Pittsburgh if they had an offer on the table.
The Flames GM on why they needed to make a move:
“We’ve missed the playoffs the last three years. We are in a very tight spot right now as it relates to qualifying for the playoffs.”
Cuts like a knife. Hold a Flames fan.
What are the Flames getting in return? A shitty 2013 first round pick, and unsigned college forwards Kenneth Agostino and Ben Hanowski.
Yeah, hold them closer, Tony Danza.
It’s every Canadians dream to see Jarome Iginla and Sidney Crosby reunite on the ice – and now we need not wait until the Sochi Olympics.
Now more of this, please. IGGY! MORE OF THIS!
